This week's Bible study video is posted above! (Note: Although the video was recorded November 26th, this page was not published until the following day. So please do not be confused by the difference in dates.)
This latest teaching continues our study of "Spiritual Growth." Once again, as I elaborate on this subject I also touch on several useful side topics too. Mainly, however, I transition from the first week's coverage of this subject matter and introduce the two "tests" of spiritual maturity before closing out.
Moreover, I also briefly cover the Biblical taxonomy (organizational structure) of the Principle Doctrines of Christ in comparison with the Apostles' Creed. The latter is indeed biblical, but it was formed as a response to heretical doctrines circulating during the 4th Century AD (i.e., it was the first "statement of faith," building upon the previous work done during the Council of Nicaea). While it is indeed GENUINE Christian doctrine, the Apostles' Creed, which serves as the basis for most denominations' Statements of Faith, isn't the original form of how the overlapping circles of principle doctrines was organized in the Bible itself. Hence, many theological disagreements through the centuries can be traced to gaps of understanding. Adherence to the original Principle Doctrines of Christ structure, would mitigate or eliminate such confusion entirely.
Since the video above doesn't include animations or graphics to make my point about how a Venn Diagram can help our understanding, I have created a simple one for your reference and pasted it below. This image (as I explain in the video above) contains six overlapping colored circles, each of which represent one of the six doctrines listed in Hebrews 6:1-3. The Apostles' Creed doctrines are implicit (i.e., logically contained) within the Principles of the Doctrines of Christ, but they are not explicitly stated (and hence, the arguments over doctrine). Nevertheless, with some study they can be found in the Bible within the overlapping areas where circles (doctrines) connect with one another. At the center, where ALL of the circles overlap, is the core foundation. This foundation is the PERSON of Jesus Christ, but doctrinally speaking, it is the culmination of all of these individual doctrines as they all point to Him:
Again, this graphic is for illustration purposes only, and my points here are more fully explained within the video. Nevertheless, I made the simple point that a Venn Diagram (logic model) like the one above is useful for understanding what I was teaching, and thus, by providing this here you can better understand what I said there.
I mentioned my articles within the video. Consequently, I said I would go ahead and put some links here on the page to make it easier for you to find them. These are already written on my other website and are related to the topic in this video:
